This role is ideal for a Technical Accountant who specialises in bookkeeping, understands Australian accounting deeply, and is comfortable working with AI-powered systems, automation, and modern accounting technologies.

Role overview

This is not a traditional accounting role. You will play a key role in using, guiding, validating, improving, and streamlining our internal AI-powered accounting system, particularly across reconciliation workflows, bookkeeping processes, and financial operations. You will help improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of our accounting processes while contributing to the evolution of smarter AI-driven workflows.

You will not be building software from scratch, but you will be heavily involved in validating outputs, refining workflows, improving system logic, identifying issues, and helping train and improve the system over time.

• Has several years of experience working in an Australian accounting/bookkeeping environment
• Is highly technical and comfortable learning advanced systems quickly
• Understands AI tools, automation workflows, and modern accounting technologies
• Has strong analytical and reconciliation skills
• Can identify inefficiencies and help improve systems and processes
• Is proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused

Key responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping and accounting tasks using our internal AI-powered accounting system
• Review, verify, and validate accounting outputs and reconciliations for accuracy
• Identify errors, inconsistencies, edge cases, and process inefficiencies
• Help improve and refine workflows, instructions, and accounting logic within the system
• Support automation and process improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and bookkeeping practices
• Collaborate with the team to continuously improve system performance and operational efficiency

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Australian accounting and bookkeeping companies
• Strong experience as an Accountant with specialisation in bookkeeping
• Experience working with computer software development environments, particularly AI-powered systems and tools
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, bookkeeping, and reconciliation processes
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Highly proficient with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks
• Strong understanding of AI tools, automation platforms, and modern digital workflows
• Comfortable using AI systems such as ChatGPT and similar technologies
• Fast learner with the ability to adapt to advanced systems and technologies quickly
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication and process documentation skills

Highly preferred

• Experience with workflow automation tools and AI-assisted systems
• Background in reconciliation-heavy environments
• Experience in QA, auditing, validation, or process improvement
• Basic understanding of system logic, APIs, or coding concepts is a plus
